Cheryl Bowen, Head of Programmes

Cheryl works for Sheffield Museums Trust as a Community Curator. She is a member of Museums Detox and is currently a trustee of Griot Foundation Trust and has previously held the position of Co-Director of Museum X CIC.
Cheryl has worked in the museums sector for the past 18 years with previous roles including Community Learning Manager at Hackney Museum and Archive Service, Cultural Development Officer, London Borough of Lewisham, as well as Assistant Manager and Programme Manager for Young People at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery.
Cheryl is a freelance heritage consultant and educator holding a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education from UCL IOE, in Art teaching a Masters in Museum Studies and Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Art.
A trustee for Arts Catalyst in Sheffield since 2020, Cheryl advocates for social justice and socially engaged artistic practice, inclusion and co-creation. Her freelance work includes research on diversity in the cultural sector and development of heritage and learning programmes and initiatives.
